Godwin Zaki, a resident in Lafia, the Capital City of Nasarawa State, posted on Facebook yesterday, about a seven years old little girl who met him for aid, he took time to listen to her story.
In his post via his Facebook page “yesterday at about 7:45am behind open university Bukan Sidi Lafia, Little Martha approached me and greeted me ina kwana (in English Good morning), The first thing that came out of her mouth is I am hungry and I want to go back home” he said.
“I ask her where is her house, what happened and where is she from?” He asked.
That’s when she began to explain in hausa what she have been going through with the guardian who adopted her through a Tiv lady who brought her as an hired housekeeper and warn the guardian not to enroll the girl in school, reasons best know to her.
This Tiv lady who reside in Polytechnic area in Lafia, who owns a small restaurant, confessed of bringing Martha to lafia through someone in Awe local government.
This same Tiv lady get this children from their poor parents in the name of putting them in school and later lease them to traders to serve as either sales girls or house keepers in various locations in Lafia.
The case was handled by HUMAN RIGHT and later transferred to National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) for further investigation.

People like Godwin Zaki are very rare, kudos to him for stepping in for little Martha.
