A few hours before the commencement of the anti-government protest, the Lagos State Police Command said its anti-bomb squad had deactivated an improvised explosive device.
It was deactivated in the Ikeja area of the state.
The Police Public Relations Officer of the command, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the development.
He was, however, unable to give details of the development at the time of filing this report.
Reports that Nigerian youths, irked by the prevailing economic hardship in the country, scheduled a 10-day nationwide protest to commence on Thursday, August 1.
