PHOTOS: Remi Tinubu Visits Borno, gifts N250m To Flood Victims

The wife of the President, Senator Oluremi Tinubu and the wife of Vice President, Nana Kashim Shettima donated N250 million to support 5,000 women whose petty businesses were affected by flood in Maiduguri.

She made the donation during a courtesy visit to Borno State on Thursday.This was disclosed in a statement and pictures shared on X.com by Nigeria Television Authority on Thursday.

According to the statement, she was accompanied by the wife of the Vice President, Nana Shettima, and was received by the State’s Governor, Babagana Zulum.

The statement reads, “First Lady Oluremi Tinubu was in Maiduguri for one day visit during which she presented Renewed Hope Initiative support to women affected by the flood disaster.

“The first Lady during the visit also announced a plan to support women whose means of livelihood were affected by the flood with an additional two hundred and fifty million naira.

“The first lady accompanied by the wife of the vice president and other dignitaries were received by Governor Babagana Umara Zulum, his Deputy, Umar Usman Kadafur, wife of the state Governor, politicians, and top government functionaries.”

The statement further revealed that she made a symbolic presentation of the relief items that included household items, and clothing.

It added, “The first lady paid courtesy visit on the Shehu of Borno, Abubakar Ibn Umar Garbai EI-Kanemi where she emphasised with the royal father over the flood disaster and intimated him on her visit to the state.

“At the Government House, the first lady Oluremi made symbolic presentation of the relief items that include clothing, dignity kids and other household needs for women affected by the flood disaster and announced additional two hundred fifty milion naira to support five thousand women whose means of livelihoods were affected by the flood.

“Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Professor Mohammed Ali Pate pharmaceutical products donated by stakeholders in the pharmaceutical industry.

”The governor was said to have acknowledged the donations by Mrs Tinubu and pharmaceutical products by the stakeholders in the industry, World Health Organisation, and other donors.
